How to Solve Bleeding Hemroids
Tue, 22 Dec 2009

Bleeding hemroids (also spelled hemorrhoids) are incredibly painful, especially if they are the external kind and protrude from the rectal area. There does exist a wide range of cures, solutions or treatments for the ailment however, and I'll attempt in this article to go through a few of the main ways you can stop bleeding hemroids.

Anyway, on to the first (and probably most important) type of 'cure':

Preventative measures

Hemroids are incredibly common. In fact, it is estimated that around 50% of over 50 year olds in the US have had hemroids at least once in their lives. So because of how widespread it is and easy it is to get, it's worth nothing down a few preventative measures. The best preventative measure in my eyes is to introduce plenty of fiber into your diet. Increasing your fiber intake will increase the ease with which you pass waste, resulting in lower stresses and therefore lower chances that you'll end up with bleeding hemroids.

Home treatments

There are a number of home treatments for hemroids, but by far and the most popular is steadily treating them with warm water. This eases the itching and pain associated with the bleeding hemroids and increases circulation (reducing swelling). A common compliment to this method is taking over the counter laxatives to soften stools and ease passage out of the body.

Steroids may also be given to weaken the hemroids, though less invasive treatments are preferential to these.

Surgical treatments

Finally, we move on to surgical treatments.

As you might expect, these are the most invasive kind of treatment, and should only be considered in extreme cases. There are two methods; cutting the piles off through an electrical current and hemorrhoid-ectomy, which is the surgical removal of hemroids. There are claims that the latter has links to incontinence later in life, though.
