Ever felt like nodding off at your desk during the day? It happens to all of us, particularly when we're leading unhealthy lifestyles. Thankfully, you don't have to feel fatigued throughout the day, every single day. Here are some simple ways to beat fatigue and get more done at work.
#1 - Eat healthy. The reason why we feel sluggish after the lunch hour is that we tend to take in a lot of simple carbohydrates during lunch. Simple carbohydrates, often in the form of sugar in donuts, fast food, and soda, take much longer to break down in the digestive system, which means the body uses up more energy. Obviously, this leaves you fatigued.
So eat healthy -- take in more nuts, vegetables, fruit, and lean meat. Not only do these foods leave you with more energy to work with, but they help you lose weight, too.
#2 - Exercise. Regular exercise, even as simple as daily half-hour walks, can improve blood circulation throughout the body and boost stamina. Start slow and work your way to more intense exercise -- don't shock your body with immediate strenuous workouts.
#3 - Rest. This is probably the most important way to beat fatigue during the day -- simply getting enough sleep at night. If you nap during the day, try to break the habit -- you need at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night to wake up refreshed, and have enough energy to last the day.
If you'd like to enjoy a more restful snooze at night, try to avoid drinking any liquids at least a half hour before going to bed. A full bladder will keep you from getting the Zzz's you need.
Keep these tips in mind and incorporate them, one-by-one, into your lifestyle. You'll start enjoying higher energy levels at work in no time, leaving you with enough energy for some quality time when you get home.
