Swine Flu Can Be Prevented - Don't Fear the Flu!

The Swine Flu virus has the ability to live on almost any surfaces for about 2 to 8 hours, but can live even longer on some surfaces. Did you know that the flu virus can live on an ordinary piece of paper for up to 12 hours? On things like doorknobs or counters (nonporous surfaces) life expectancy can be up to 48 hours. However, if that surface is moist, now we are up to 72 hours. Obviously, regularly cleaning your surfaces is very important. To do this, you can use common household disinfectants to wipe down things like your keyboard, counter, tables, etc.

- Keep Your Body Clean:

Environmental toxins in our bodies weaken our immune system. In these times it is of the utmost importance that our bodies are strong and healthy in order to fight off diseases and infections. If you do catch the flu, a strong and healthy body and immune system could mean the difference between your bout with the flu being a short and mild inconvenience to being a long and devastating struggle.

We consume toxins every day. Obvious ones are from smoking or second hand smoke. Consuming alcohol. Exhaust fumes from automobiles. "Sick" building where you work or live.

What you eat can contribute to the levels of toxins in your body. Preservatives and chemicals from fast food. Processed foods like potato chips, soda, candy, or easy to cook meals. All of these foods contain things that are unhealthy and build up in your body. Your body then is continually working to clean out these toxins but many of us find it a losing battle.

The toxins come in faster than they go out. We feel tired all the time, mentally fuzzy, susceptible to colds and flu viruses. We have strange aches and pains and headaches.

In order to protect yourself you must detoxify your body. You must help your body be able to use its energy for keeping you from getting sick, not using all its energy to clean out all the garbage in our muscles, intestines, and other organs. Here are some things you can do:

- Cut out fast foods.

- Cut out as much sugar as you can.

- Eat more fresh foods.

- Eat more raw foods than cooked foods.

- Eat smaller portions.

- Consume more fiber.

- Chew your foods thoroughly.

- Drink more distilled water.

- Add a little lemon to your water.

- Reduce your caffeine intake.

- Be less sedentary.

- Stop smoking.

- Eliminate alcohol.

- Walk more.

- Stretch more.

There are so many simple things you can do to be healthier, stronger, feel better, and most importantly protect yourself from these germs floating around us.
