How to Grow Taller - What Your Options Are

Many people would like to find out how to grow taller, in spite of the fact that they are far beyond their adolescent age. There are several popular methods that are used by people aiming to increase their height. Some of these methods will be described below.

1) Physical Exercises

So-called "how to grow taller exercises", such as stretching and hanging, may help you to grow taller. An example of a stretching exercise is to stand with your arms stretched straight up above your head, reaching as high up as possible, and maintaining this pose for several seconds, then repeating multiple times. Hanging can be done by simply hanging from a horizontal bar with your feet off the ground for at least 30 minutes every week.

Cycling can also encourage height increase if you would raise the seat of the bike to create the need for your legs to stretch in order to stay with the pedals.

2) Diet

Many believe that the human growth hormone (or HGH for short), which is secreted by the body and is responsible for height increase, can be stimulated by eating foods that are rich in vitamin D and calcium. Some examples of such foods are red meat, fish (such as tuna, sardine and salmon), nuts (such as walnuts, cashews and peanuts), milk and dairy products, spinach, and brussels sprouts.

3) HGH Supplements and Injections

In place of (or in addition to) inducing the creation of HGH in the body, you can also buy HGH supplements from health food stores or online. However, before you rush off to buy any, be warned that many brands of HGH supplements contain only low doses of HGH that are not sufficient to cause a height difference. Worse, some of the vendors of these supplements are scammers that put cheap substances into their supplements that can cause negative side effects in your body.

HGH is also available as injections that require a doctor's prescription and usually costs a lot of money - that is, if you could even convince your doctor to write up the prescription for the reason that you want to grow taller.

4) Posture Correction

If you have posture defects such as a tilted pelvis or bowed legs, gradual correction of these problems can add inches to your current height. If this describes you, see a chiropractor today to start getting taller.

5) Hypnosis

While this may sound crazy, some people believe that hypnosis can help to make them taller. The theory is that the mind and body are closely connected, and therefore by sending a request of wanting to be taller to the sub-conscious mind, the physical body will realign to fulfill that request. You can decide whether or not you want to believe this theory.

6) Surgery

Although not exactly a "how to grow taller" method, surgical bone elongation is a sure way to height increase. If you watched the movie "Gattaca", this is the type of surgery Vincent Freeman underwent to become as tall as Jerome Morrow. The surgical process involves the severing of the leg bones, after which the bones are kept stationary with fixating frames for weeks or months depending on the exact amount of height increase desired. During that time, the bones are not allowed to heal completely, as the two bone segments in each leg are pulled apart bit by bit to encourage more and more bone growth as the body attempts to heal the "broken bones". This process is long and painful, so unless you have very solid reasons for choosing this option, the suffering (not to mention cost) will probably not justify the results.
