Did You Know Iron Deficiency Causes Tiredness?
Fri, 04 Dec 2009

Have you ever been so tired and mentally drained, that you feel you have to sit down because you think you are going to faint? Lack of iron in peoples diets can cause this process to be prolonged and then this leads to a iron deficiency, causing a constant tired feeling.

You need this iron in your body to replace any lost, just like you would replace water for your body after doing some exercise for example.

Men need a greater daily amount than women, but it just as important for anyone to replace it no matter the age or sex. A recent study has shown that women are more likely to suffer from this, along with babies, elderly people and teenagers. It can cause people to feel very faint, dizziness, blurred vision and of course, extreme tiredness.

Now when you take these into consideration, it can make you feel very anxious about telling anyone about it, or even telling your doctor. Which is understandable really because you feel it could be something serious. Though I would certainly recommend you go and see the local doctor if the symptoms begin to get out of control.

Also things may begin to change for the worse, like your working life may be affected by this because your ability to concentrate is low, due to feeling too tired to perform to your usual capabilities. Of course your family life too may begin to suffer because you may feel you do not have enough energy after a long day at work.

So if you think maybe that some of these factors sound like anything you are suffering from, then your doctor should be able to help. He or she may carry out some sort of test on yourself and then give you the correct medication.

Hopefully you are not suffering that much and if that is the case, then here are a few things you can implement into daily diet. Eating meats can help to replace lost iron in the body, especially red meats. Good news there then, unless you are a vegetarian of course, who do seem to suffer a lot with weakness in the body because their diet just does not cater for replacing the iron.

Foods which have a lot of fibre can help also. Brown bread, baked beans, ordinary beans, lentils, green vegetables like sprouts, cauliflower, green beans etc.

A lot of cereal companies do try to sell a lot of their cereals now, almost priding themselves on the fact that their cereals contain iron and other good for body sources. If you have a quick research, next time your at the supermarket, you will probably notice banners advertising what their cereals contain.

Now obviously, I would really like you to begin taking these ideas and begin using them to your advantage, but everything must have a balance. So do not just go and eat foods which only contain iron, of course aim to get an all round diet in place, ensuring iron is on your daily menu.

Hope these simple guides can help you see how simple changes can make all the difference, by taking time to search for information on a subject.
