Yep, it's here again, the cold depressing winter months are upon us. Why so depressing? What does winter time usually bring us besides dry skin? As the beautiful warm summer days start to fade and the cold months start to come a few things tend to happen. As we began to cover up from the cold we also seem to start neglecting ourselves. Why is this? For some reason it seems to make it okay to neglect our bodies if we are going to be covered up in layers of clothing for a few months through the cold weather. It seems to be, if no one else is looking at us its okay to let ourselves go. Beware there can be a down side to this. As we began to neglect ourselves this can start to bring on lower self esteem and next in line is depression. So let's consider trying something new this year, instead of neglecting ourselves let's think about pampering ourselves.
So, you know what I mean by the winter time blues don't you? Let's just think of the usual process of winter time. We start dressing in bigger clothes and more layers (we have no choice unless we want to freeze). So the diet doesn't seem to be as important anymore because whose going to notice a few extra pounds under the extra layers of clothes right (don't fool yourself, you will). Next, the exercise schedule slowly comes to an end, because who wants to fight the cold weather for your morning jog or trip to the gym. Our skin becomes very dry, cracked, and chapped but it's mostly covered up so it doesn't get as much attention. You probably have been shaving every day during the summer, now that winter is here we cut that down to a bare minimum (who wants to shave if you don't have to right)we reason, since our legs will be covered up we can skimp on the shaving too. The weekly pedicures are out the door, boots will surely take care of that. So how long will it take of this type of neglect before we start to realize we aren't looking so hot anymore? Then as the winter months start to come to an end (uh-oh) now we have to do a total overhaul to make ourselves presentable to dawn a pair of shorts, much less a bathing suit and heaven forbid a bikini! So how can we avoid the winter time neglect, low self esteem, depression, and mass overhaul?
Let's start by keeping our diet clean, a few cheat meals are fine. Don't ignore the workouts just change them up a bit, try purchasing a few workout DVDs you can do indoors. Make sure your not forgetting about your skin keep it moisturized even if it's hidden, and drink your water. If we take care of ourselves through the cold months when the summer arrives you can reveal you're new and glowing skin! Who knows maybe you can even take your vacation a little early instead of waiting for the warm weather why not go to it, maybe the Caribbean get an early start on your tan! So instead of hiding through the winter months pamper yourself and go have some fun!
