Most people know that our bodies are primarily made up of water. So why is it that when our bodies thirst we reach for sodas or sugar-laden juices?
Water is the simplest way to cure many common ailments that we suffer from on a daily basis. If you're drinking half your weight in ounces of water everyday you're less likely to suffer from chronic constipation, acne and dry, straw-like hair just to name a few.
With all of water's benefits you'd think it would be a no-brainer to reach for water first. In reality some people mistake being thirsty for being hungry as the body's signal for dehydration often mimics hunger pangs. So they don't always know when they're thirsty.
Then there are some people that simply don't like the taste of water. For this section of the population I would suggest squeezing lemon juice, lime juice or even adding a slice of cucumber to make it more palatable. If you're still having a hard time with getting it down, you may even want to try products from the True Lemon line such as True Orange. The good people at True Lemon are even kind enough to sell little packets that you can take on the run. (But please refrain from adding sugar, we're trying to get water down - not bootleg lemonade, limeade or orangeade.)
I won't get hung up on the whole cold water vs. room temp water debate because I don't care if you're only drinking it to lose weight. Plus I hear your body only burns about 70 calories to heat the water up to body temperature. Since I'm a room temp fan, I'll just park a few spaces farther from the door of the supermarket and burn my 70 calories walking.
Cold or warm. With lemon or without. Just drink it!
