Cell Phone & Kids is Not Good
Thu, 12 Nov 2009

For some time now, I have been reading research reports on the effects of cell phone radiation on adults. Now I'm reading more and more about the effects of cell phone's on children. Not good.

According to a research group at France Telecom in Paris, "The brains of young children absorb twice as much radio frequency energy from a cell phone as those of adults."

"[Our] analysis confirms that peripheral brain tissues of children seem to be higher exposed than the peripheral brain tissue of adults," Joe Wiart's research group explained.

"Their skin and their skulls are thinner than those of adults, and their ears are smaller too," he said. "Given these differences, the higher SAR for children is not surprising."

SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate, a measure of the rate at which radio frequency energy is absorbed by the body.

These new findings apply to children who are eight years old or younger. Above the age of eight, the SARs in children are much like those of adults, according to Wiart.

This is alarming enough but then just last week the head of a prominent cancer research institute issued an unprecedented warning to his faculty and staff Wednesday: Limit the phone use because of the possible risk of cancer.

I've heard stories of young kids using cell phones for 30 minutes to 1 hour at a time! If you transfer that time usage to fun.

Family exercise , trips to the park, zoo or museum, you will reap the benefits of a healthy family much more than those whose kids are on a potentially dangerous cell phone every day.
