Removing Hemorrhoids - What Options Exist For Having a Hemorrhoid Removed?
Tue, 10 Nov 2009

Sometimes when hemorrhoids continue to swell and not heal properly complete removal of the hemorrhoid might be the next step that is needed. Any hemorrhoid removal option is going to be done by a doctor under a doctor's advice so your intimate questions should be answered by him or her.

What are some of the removal options that are available?

Rubber Band Ligation - This process is where a hemorrhoid, most of the an internal one, is wrapped in rubber bands. The blood supply is being cut off to the hemorrhoid which over about the next week will cause the hemorrhoid to fall off. This will cause some discomfort during that week as the rectum will feel much fuller as there are bands there that you are not used to. This works for most people unless the band for some reasons falls off.

Removal with a knife - Some hemorrhoids are cut off with a scalpel under local antithetic. The doctor will remove the swollen hemorrhoid and once healed the problem should be gone.

Laser Removal - This is very similar to removal with a scalpel except a laser is used to cut off the hemorrhoid. Laser treatment should fuse the skin as it cuts it off so that the wound is sealed up upon removal all at the same time.

Even after a surgery care and treatment to the area is needed. Keep the area clean and follow the doctors instructions.

To prevent future hemorrhoids some lifestyle changes may be needed. Proper hydration and a higher fiber diet can help with constipation issues that cause all sorts of stress and pressure which can lead to future hemorrhoids.
