Are You Relying on Your Personal Trainer for the Body You Desire?
Mon, 09 Nov 2009

Over the last decade we have seen an increase in obesity like never before and the interesting fact is here we have also seen an increase in personal training. Could there be a slight link to the situation? What happens when people visit a personal trainer ready to exercise, do they on some level let go of all responsibility to change there body?? Do people think one personal training session per week is enough exercise to achieve the body you desire??

How much exercise is enough to make changes to our bodies??

The truth is if you exercise consistently and have a program to follow you will certainly achieve results. Exercise is a form of stress on the body, the human body will not improve or adapt unless it has been put under some level of stress that it is not accustomed to (overload). The human body tends to like its systems to run at a constant level homeostasis, therefore when you go to exercise the body is bound to change! Yes there are a lot of other variables within your workout that can support additional changes and how fast you can change and in the end it depends on you, not your personal trainer.

Power is knowledge when it comes to exercise and then applying it.

So when we start to understand our bodies and take some responsibility of where we are at with our body things will change. It may take one small step at a time, but at least it's a step in the right direction. You see when exercising the variables to increase or decrease how fast you get results can depend on intensity, time, type, frequency. Clients training at an intense level, hopefully overloading the body with a level the body is not use to the body will adapt to the training stress specifically by improving that component, so that the body is not shocked again and is ready for further challenges.

Applying a method that considers these variables and consistently working at it will achieve results and if you want to learn more then visit my website and step up to the challenge and understand what makes your body tick and then go do it.

Our bodies needs time to adapt to the training stress so adequate recovery time is needed. Frequency of training sessions depends on recovery and hopefully the body overcompensating for the training stress. In other words the body will not improve or adapt to the training stress until the body has recovered from the previous workout, eg. Body adapts during rest. This tells us that rest is the most important variable after actual overload.

So herein is the answer if you are working with a personal trainer assess what you have achieved move forward, by taking responsibility and continue on the path. Health and fitness is a lifelong habit get use to this idea first and then start or continue applying one step at a time in the right direction to create what it is you would like to achieve with your body.
