Heavy Metal Toxicity and Extreme Tiredness
Sun, 11 Oct 2009

The only thing worse than severe, chronic tiredness is not being able to explain its cause. If you have been suffering from fatigue for very long you may have tried many things to resolve your problem. However, if you have changed many aspects of your life and are still tired, you may be suffering from heavy metal toxicity.

Heavy metals are everywhere. Mercury, aluminum, lead, and cadmium are very common. Silver fillings are known to have mercury. Deodorants contain aluminum. People who live near industrial plants, in older homes, or who have older pipes are at risk for metal toxicity. Water can contain metals. There are even metals in many of the processed foods we eat. It can be easy for these metals to reach toxic levels in your body.

Heavy metal toxicity causes extreme tiredness. It makes you feel both mentally and physically fatigued. It also causes insomnia. Additionally, it can cause tremors, fluid retention, hair loss, poor circulation, a metallic taste, and headaches. Mentally, it can cause depression, anxiety, difficulty making decisions, and mood swings.

Heavy Metal toxicity can be difficult to diagnose. The symptoms cannot be attributed to any one illness. If you suspect metal toxicity is causing your lack of energy, you may need to be proactive about being diagnosed.

Metal toxicity is typically diagnosed through hair analysis. This can be done by your doctor or at an independent lab. The hair will be tested for many types of metals. Once you know the metal that is causing your toxicity you will know how to get more energy by stopping your exposure.

For extreme cases of metal toxicity, you may need to seek medical help. Doctors can use an intravenous medicine, called a chelation, to purge the metals from your system. Chelations bind to heavy metals in your system and draw them out. They are then secreted from your body. The most potent chelation is an acid called EDTA. For less extreme cases, a doctor can prescribe the chelation DMSA in a pill form. You take this orally, but it can take more than three weeks for the metals to leave your system.

If you suspect metal toxicity is the answer to your question of "why am I always so tired", but do not want to go to the doctor there are other options available. Some herbal or natural forms of chelations can be purchased over the counter. The herb cilantro can help remove mercury from your system. Some enteric-coated enzymes are a good chelation because they are released in the digestive track and can more easily get into the blood stream. Sea algae are also known to act as a chelation.

If heavy metal toxicity is causing your lack of energy, you will be amazed by how much better you feel once you correct the problem. Your endocrine system, cardiovascular system, organs, and metabolism will all function better. You will become healthier and happier and will finally be able to past your chronic fatigue for good.
