THE PROBLEM OF PERSPIRATION
As the millions of sufferers will know, although perspiring is a natural function where the body can expel certain toxins, excessive perspiration (known as hyperhidrosis), can cause extreme embarrassment where it may not only collect under the armpits but also run down the sides of the body. For some, the problem extends to their hands and feet too. In addition, it may well leave very difficult to remove stains on the clothes.
Whether meeting up with friends, on a date, giving a presentation, or just relaxing at home, sweat problem always have a tendency to give the same uncomfortable and unpleasant feelings. It tends to make life quite miserable. With over five million sweat glands in the body, the problem becomes a real challenge.
TREATMENTS FOR AND CAUSES OF EXCESSIVE PERSPIRATION
Many people with hyperhidrosis don't see any relief with normal readily available antiperspirants. From that point, the problem is likely to be medically related, the first port of call then, is always to take medical advice as treatments are dependent on the type of excessive perspiration you may be experiencing. They may be medium or long-term treatments. Such treatments may even include surgery. Doctors have now concluded that excessive perspiration occurs as a result of the Sympathetic Nervous System overreacting in its attempt to regulate body temperature. It can also be a side effect of bodily intake including food, drink, drugs and weight related.
In addition to the conventional medical route for solution seeking, you can also try the "natural " alternative and visit a naturopathic doctor for advice. These may include acupuncture, hypnosis, turkish baths, and special body powders. Apple cider vinegar has been used too. I have even heard of a very exotic treatment involving both the flower and seed of the Tamarind.
TIPS FOR PERSPIRATION RELATED PROBLEMS
1. Use a simple clothes washing product to remove stains from clothes. Those that claim to be oxygenated are likely to be the most efficient, but those that indicate an ability to remove stains associated with protein may also prove to be suitable. Apply directly to the stained area and leave for half an hour before washing in the normal way.
2. Wash the affected area of your body a minimum of twice a day to avoid bacteria build up. A personal hygiene program will go a long way to making life a little more tolerable.
3. Watch what you eat/drink. Known aggravations include caffeine, alcohol and all spicy foods.
4. Drink only water and fruit juice.
5. Use liners under clothing that may either be washed or disposed of to provide absorption.
6. Keep armpit hair as short as possible and talc the area well.
7. Try to reduce stress levels as stress increases the likelihood of perspiration.
8. Avoid tight clothing and man made materials. You might like to pay careful attention to the color and shade too. 9.When buying antiperspirants, read the label/can and make sure it actually has the word antiperspirant and not just deodorant.
10. Be aware that some antiperspirants and deodorants can actually trigger perspiration! Try using Lavender oil instead.
